Overview
The VRAC (Virtual Reality Applications Center) faced a unique problem. For years, the VRAC provided researchers at Iowa State University with “world-class research infrastructure.” The technology was too good not to share. Understanding this, the VRAC created an HCI graduate program to bring students in and utilize the technology for greater research. Somewhere along the way, two websites were made; one for the VRAC and another for the HCI program. This was a problem. The two websites caused users, mostly prospective students and researchers, to understand the VRAC and the HCI graduate program as two completely different entities. Who was who?
I helped solve the problem by merging the content from the two websites into one usable website. The website currently uses the Information Architecture I designed using a content inventory, card sorting, site maps, and mockups.
